On Pyris VII, Sulu (George Takei) and Scotty (James Doohan) are rendered zombies by Korob (Theo Marcuse) and Sylvia (Antoinette Bower), two beings who use black cats, magic wands and evil spells in an attempt to terrorise Kirk and company. When Kirk (William Shatner) refuses to submit, Sylvia holds a voodoo-like image of the Enterprise over a flame, and the starship begins superheating! Will Sylvia's seductive charms spell disaster for Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise?
a person used by another to gain an end. I have no idea of the entomology, but in this case it refers to Jackson, Scott and Sulu (they are a means by which the main characters turn up on the planet and it saves on the "Non-specific alien guard" budget).

Happy Hallowe'en.
You know how regular shows do Christmas episodes every year around Christmas when everyone falls out of the holiday spirit until the end of the episode when they all fall back in again because of the miracle of Christmas (not to mention the miracle of gift giving)? Well this is the Star trek Hallowe'en episode. Spooky spells, scary monsters, creepy castles, etc., etc.
Is it worth watching? Well... whatever. It isn't spooky by today's standards, the effects are at their primitive TV best (ie not very good), the plot thickens but it all turns out to be a dream. I am on record for my opinions about the "It's all a dream" ending. Catspaw is a mediocre episode that says more about the 60s than it does about humanity.
