Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and her crew uncover a 400-year-old mystery, in the shape of a 1936 Ford pick-up truck, floating in space! Attempting to discover its origins, they must face the most potentially damaging decision of the starship's voyage so far...

The season one finale! Oh, yeah!
And this "Oh, yeah!" is awarded despite some really shonky logic, like advanced beings flying all the way across the galaxy to pick up a couple of hundred primitive Human slaves. What, they don't have undeveloped, underprivileged cultures to raid in the Delta Quadrant? Or robots?
Anyway, there is one of the most exciting moments in Star trek which you will have to watch or you'll need to return your pointy ears. When Janeway ordered Tom Paris to take Voyager to the surface of the planet I almost wet myself. Landing a starship on a planet!?! Yeehar! Blue Alert! And I will never forget the image of Janeway sitting on her couch with blue sky out the window.
There is also a wee Hallmark moment when everyone decides to continue on with the ship rather than stay on the planet with their distant cousins. I was genuinely touched.
All in all, this is a good ending to a generally successful first season. The characters are broadening out, there's a Vulcan on board and the special effects are worth killing for. A great big thank you to whoever designed the opening credit sequence.
